Thank-you to all future Italian Explorers who attended our first meeting last Friday.  You all have received a 'ticket' which you must keep safe and in immaculate condition (no lamination).  Please can you register your ticket number on the green sheets outside M.12.  

The second reduced payment of £50 is due on Wednesday 6 December 2017.  Remember, if there are ever any difficulties with making payments it is vital that contact is made in advance.

All S1-4 pupils attending the theatre trip to the Lyceum to see Arabian Nights next Wednesday 6th December, please check your name on the pupil list outside the Drama Studio. All those who have ordered an ice cream or lolly will receive this in the interval on the day.

It is your responsibility to tell your teachers about the trip and ask for work to catch up what you miss.

Everyone to be on the bus ready to leave at 9am on Wednesday, register with your regi class then come to the rear car park to board the bus. We are leaving Knox at 9am sharp, back about 1pm, come smartly dressed in full uniform please!

Looking for a Christmas present?  All pupils and parents are invited along to the Young Enterprise (Edinburgh & Lothians) Christmas Market which will be held on Saturday 2 December 2017 on the Auditorium of Central Hall, 2 West Tollcross, Edinburgh. EH3 9BP.

The 3 Knox Academy Teams will be there, as well as teams from other schools selling a range of Christmas goodies.

Pupils performing in the 2017 Christmas Concert will be able to book priority tickets from Monday the 27th November. Each performer is welcome to book two tickets for family members before the 8th of December, after which remaining tickets will be on sale to everyone. Please see a member of the Music Department to collect a Priority Booking form.

The School Magazine is hosting a quiz night to raise money for our Christmas Issue on Monday 4 December at 6.30pm.

Both pupils and parents are welcome to attend!

Four members per team are required and registration forms and tickets are available Wednesday, Thursday and Friday break in the library.  Tickets cost £5

Knox Volleyball Club starts on Monday in the Games Hall 4.10pm – 5.15pm. The club is being run by pupils for pupils (with a little support of Mr Wands) and is for Everyone interested in playing at All levels. Staff member interested in playing is also welcome! Reminder for all those that attend girl's rugby: this week there's guest appearances from Rhona Lloyd and Katie Dougan (International Scottish Rugby Players) alongside their coach Claire Cruickshank.

Please meet down at the rugby club on Thursday, ready to go for 4.30pm. With the session finishing slightly later, at 5.45pm.

If you would like to attend, and currently aren't part of the girl's rugby team, please fill in a PC1 form (available in the PE dept) and come and join us!

The Eco-Committee would like to say a big THANK YOU to the Knox community for the generous clothing, food, and toiletries donations! We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to this collection and it has been great to see Knox band together for a great cause! We collected a total of 94 kilos of donations! That's the equivalent weight of 94 bags of sugar or 94 1 liter Lucozade bottles - in other words, it's a lot! Thanks to everyone for making this collection a success! We couldn't have done it without you!

Many thanks to everyone involved in Get Active Day on Friday!

The day was an overwhelming success and we were so proud of our S4-S6 Pupil Coaches that ran the activities:- These were made up of the CSLA class, SKY Sports Leaders, Sports Council and Extra-Curricular Coaches.

A special mention must go to S3 pupil Adam Aitchison who helped run Boxing and did so with purpose, pride and with a smile on his face - good coaching!!

A Massive thanks go to our Special guests and who talked about their inspiring sporting journeys.

If you enjoyed on of the activities (as a participant or coach) and want to do more – try out our range of extra Curricula clubs or go down to the local club this week! (or See Mr Wands Today)

Our YA’s, Sports Council & CSLA students have been working hard for weeks in preparation of today’s (Friday) Knox Sport – ‘Get Active Day’.

We hope you are as excited as us about today.

• S1 & S2 Girls should make your way to the Games hall for 8.55am

• S1 & S2 Boys should come to the Games Hall for 10.25am

We request that all S1-S2s Respect the efforts of our pupils coach leaders and give every activity their best effort. There are no 1st place prizes but we may offer some praise to individuals giving their very best effort. We expect that some of you may be a bit nervous about the event. Our Young Sports Leaders hope is that we create an encouraging environment where everyone can find something they enjoy. This Friday, 17 November, is Children in Need.  Throughout the day there will be a variety of events to raise money.  S1-S5 will participate in a dress down day.  S6 will be dressing up as well as running a bake sale at break.  Alongside these events there will be the chance to pie the head pupils and Mr Flood at break.  This is a good cause which we are hoping to raise a significant amount of money for.  Please help support this and be generous in your giving this Friday.  Thanks.    Charity Committee

Can everyone attending the S1 renewable energy trip on Monday please attend a short meeting in T1.11 Science at 13:25 tomorrow (Thursday) during lunch.

Medical Receptionist Apprentice

Microcom Training are looking for an apprentice Medical Receptionist for a practice in Prestonpans.

They are looking for someone aged 16-19.  Minimum National 5 or equivalent in English and Maths with a preferred associated subject (business & administration, computing).

The successful candidate will work towards a Business and Administration level 3 as a Doctor Surgery Receptionist.

The hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and the annual salary is £12,800 which is in excess of the national minimum apprentice wage.

Basketball Training for S1-S6 Girls and Boys Basketball is on Thursdays after-school in the games hall from 4.00-5.30pm.

We are aiming to have 3 teams playing competitive games against other schools by the New Year, so if you're interested come along and get involved.

Last Wednesday Knox Academy Girls SOR had their first rugby development match against Leith Vixens at Haddington Rugby Club. For many Knox girls this was their first venture in to full contact rugby and there were a few nerves! Leith were playing their 8th competitive match so it was al;ways going to be a struggle for the Knox girls. The match was played in great spirits with both teams playing open rugby and putting on a great display for the supporters who had braved the cold winter night. Leith came away worthy winners but the Knox girls can be extremely proud of their performance with some great displays and some big hits! The girls head coach L.Borwick was very impressed with the effort the girls put in she and the girls are looking forward to their next match.

Congratulations to everyone that represented Knox Hockey against Boroughmuir this weekend. While the results did not go our way this time – All teams were competitive and the games could have gone either way. Its great to see all teams improving weeke on week. Thanks to wonderfull Coaches, Parents and Players for their commitment to Haddington Hockey.
I was delighted to receive a lovely comment from the Boroughmuir coach that mentioned that our players had played the game in a great spirit and were a credit to the school! Nice job team Knox!

Mr Moncrieff in Science is running a trip to the National Musuem of Scotland to a renewable energy event. It is on Monday 20th November. This event is free, however it will require a letter home.

If you are interested in attending this, can you please let your science teacher know by the end of Thursday, or speak to Mr Moncrieff.

Due to demand, and limited places, to be fair there will only be a small number of students from each class randomly selected, depending on interest.
