PARENTAL NEWS - KEEP UP TO DATE

The PSP (Parent School Partnership) would like to remind you of the various methods of contacting us with your views and generally staying in touch with current information.

The PSP website holds all up-to-date information and they also now have a Facebook page as an additional method of communication.

Currently under consideration is a Twitter feed.

They would love to hear your views on any issues.

The Knox Academy Support Group (KASG) fundraise for the school eg hosting the Christmas Disco and Burns' Supper.  All funds raised go directly to the school for various equipment and resources.  They also have a Facebook page to stay in touch.

HOME ECONOMICS ARRANGEMENTS - NOVEMBER 2014

At registration today, pupils will be issued with this letter which details arrangements concerning Home Economics lessons.

We are now working at capacity in the Home Economics Department and it is our aim to give pupils as much practical experience as possible.

Please return the tear-off slip by week commencing 1 December 2014.

S4 REPORTS - NOVEMBER 2014

Yesterday S4 pupils were issued with their full reports.

Please can parents/carers return the tear-off section of the enclosed letter to registration teachers to confirm receipt of the reports.

DRESS CODE - TRANSPORT - ABSENCE

During registration today pupils were issued with this letter from Mrs Ingham concerning dress code, congestion in the car park and absences.

TRANSITION FOCUS GROUP

As part of the school's self evaluation Mr Blair (Teacher of Mathematics) is hoping to look at the transition for parents and pupils P7/S1 and has asked the Parent Council for assistance.

We thought one way to get views was to have a small focus group for an hour at Knox on Thursday 13th November. We are hoping for around 10 parents in each group.

There will be two groups:

  • 1st Group for parents of children in P7 6.15 to 7.15pm
  • 2nd Group for parents of children already in S1 7.30 to 8.30pm

The format of the meeting will be to answer around 5 questions in two groups and then a plenary session for open discussion.

The meeting will take place in the Learning Support room which is through the main doors, turn left and it is first on the right. Please contact us (knoxacademypsp@gmail.com) if you can make it – just so we know how many home made brownies to bring!

KASG MEETING

The Knox Academy Support Group has its next meeting on Tuesday 11th November in room L2 (enter the building via main entrance and turn left).

We organise various fundraising events - most recently the popular "Blingo" evening - and new members are always welcome.

Our upcoming events include the ever popular Christmas Dance and Burns Supper.
