April 2015

I hope that everyone who could, managed to have a good break over Easter.

The pupils returned looking rested and ready to work. There has been a pleasing buzz about the place as the seniors tie up loose ends before they start their exam leave on Monday. I took the opportunity to wish the S4 to S6 pupils all the best in their assemblies this week. I have high hopes for them and know how much work they have been putting into revising. Whilst the majority of pupils are on exam leave the school is still open to them and staff will be available to go through work and provide moral support. If pupils are coming in to school, though, can I ask that they sign into the building and wear dress code?

We are now in the throes of finalising Activities’ Week. I know that there have been various meetings to organise the school packages and the foreign trips. Please contact the school if you think you should have heard more about these (sometimes letters and information gets lost at the bottom of school bags). It’s a really great week for everyone involved and gives staff and pupils an opportunity to mix and get to know each other better in more relaxed surroundings.

It feels that no sooner have we returned but my mind turns to the Awards’ Ceremony. It will be held on Thursday 2nd July at 7pm. If your youngster was awarded a cup, shield, or statuette, can you make sure that they return it to the School Office, please? We need to get them cleaned and organise engraving etc. for this year’s recipients.

Talking of cups…Yesterday I was delighted to hear that our swim team came third overall in the East Lothian Swimming Gala. Congratulations to everyone who took part and helped bring home the trophy.

So, on that high note, can I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
